Sri Lanka expressed its displeasure over UN human Rights Chief Navi Pillayi’s double standards while handling matters of Sri Lanka.
“We draw the attention of this body to a potentially worrying concern of a growing trend to depart from well established principals of procedure in the conduct of the affairs of this council,” Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe told the 18th UNHRC sessions in Geneva yesterday (12th September).
He stated that it’s better if Ms. Pillay can treat Sri Lanka as per the accepted UN policies. Also informed other countries that today its Sri Lanka having bad experiences internationally due to the partiality of Ms. Pillai and in the future it can be any other country suffering the same.
Meanwhile, the Maldives President, Mohamed Nasheed had given wide support for Sri Lanka at the session and had urged the World body to let Sri Lanka solve their problems. Besides, many countries including China, Pakistan and Middle East, Latin American and African countries had expressed their support to Sri Lanka at this session.
