New SL ambassador for Oman hopes to boost tourism between two nations

“My primary objective is to strengthen relations between Sri Lanka and Oman” says Asoka Girahagama – the new Sri Lankan ambassador for Oman in an interview with “Times of Oman”.  Asoka Girahagama – the new ambassador for Oman assumed office early this month.

Prior to this appointment, he was a Director General for the Consular Affairs division at the Ministry of External Affairs.

“We share very close bilateral ties. Our relationship goes back to so many decades. Besides,Oman and Sri Lanka are dealing at the international level since we are members of organizations such as Non-Aligned Movement (NAM)”, Mr. Girahagama further states.

While eyeing for new avenues to develop tourism between two nations, Mr. Girahagama is also wiling to establish mechanisms for the betterment of Sri Lankans inOman.
