Sri Lanka tops the New York Times listing on the 31 places to go in year 2010. The New York Times’ Travel section has published the chosen 31 countries and places in the world a traveler should visit.
Sri Lanka has secured the first place in their list beating 30 other places in the world.
The New York Times says the conflict between the government troops and LTTE terrorists was the menace in Sri Lanka for the past 25 years. “But the conflict finally ended last May, ushering in a more peaceful era for this teardrop-shaped island off India’s coast, rich in natural beauty and cultural splendors.” , The New York Times states further.
Sri Lanka was always noted and was famous for its Geographical location, natural resources and for the tropical climate. Having situated in the Eastern trade route interconnecting Asian continent with the Mediterranean World, ancient Sri Lanka was a famous commercial location as well.
